NARSAD, The World's Leading Charity Dedicated to Mental Health Research is a private, not-for-profit public charity 501(c)(3) organized for the purpose of raising and distributing funds for scientific research into the causes, cures, treatments and prevention of severe psychiatric brain disorders, such as schizophrenia, depression, anxiety and bipolar disorders.

Recently, the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) has adopted the business name “NARSAD, The World's Leading Charity Dedicated to Mental Health Research” to reflect the broader funding interests of the organization. In addition to funding research about schizophrenia and depression, NARSAD funds psychiatric brain research in many areas, such as autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders.

NARSAD seeks and receives contributions from individuals, families, foundations and corporations for the support of its research programs, its educational symposia and publications. Contributions may be received in the form of cash, stocks, mutual fund transfers, bequests, or special tributes. Planned giving options are available. NARSAD does not seek or receive government funding.
