Study criteria (i.e., age or gender requirements):
Clinical diagnosis of Unipolar Major Depression

Exclusion criteria:
Substance Abuse, Psychotic Disorder, History of Severe Head Trauma

Brief description of study:
We are using depression symptom measurements and measurements of brain electrical activity (QEEG) to determine what factors may influence whether a patient is likely to show a resposne to antidepressant medication, placebo, or only clinical visits (without the use of pills) during a treatment trial for depression.

Additional information:
There are several clinical trials on the treatment of depression running at our UCLA site. If one does not fit into the criteria for this particular study, he or she may fit into the criteria for another one of our studies.
