Recent Progress in Autism and Related Disorders Research

Great Neck, NY

A talk with Adriana Di Martino, M.D., Institue for Pediatric Neuroscience, NYU Child Study Center

Great Neck North Middle School
77 Polo Road
Great Neck, NY

Adriana Di Martino, M.D., a NARSAD grant recipient, discussed her recent brain imaging findings focusing on social cognition in typically developing children versus those with autism. She focused on how the brain regulates social cognition during development, how this differs in individuals with autism and how her work can improve the diagnosis and treatment of autism.

Dr. Di Martino conducts research on autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), cognitive functioning related to pervasive development disorders (PDD) and the effect of atypical antipsychotics in children with PDD. Her studies in clinical pharmacology also extend to childhood bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders.
