Fourth Annual NARSAD and Sidney R. Baer, Jr. Foundation Scientific Symposium
St. Louis, Mo.
NARSAD’s annual St. Louis symposium and dinner was held on Sunday, March 25, 2007, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 100 Carondelet Place, St. Louis. The symposium was moderated by Robert Freedman, M.D., of the University of Colorado at Denver and its Health Sciences Center. Presenters included: Todd Braver, Ph.D., of Washington University School of Medicine, who discussed schizophrenia; Howard Gershenfeld, M.D., Ph.D., of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, who spoke about depression; Melissa DelBello, M.D., of the University of Cincinnati, whose topic was ADHD/childhood bipolar disorder; and Dan Haupt, M.D., of the Washington University School of Medicine, who described his current research on schizophrenia. Drs. Braver and Gershenfeld were NARSAD Independent Investigators for 2005; Dr. DelBello was a NARSAD Young Investigator in 2004 and Dr. Haupt in 2002.

The Foundation, which seeks to alleviate mental illness through education, research and direct care, is named for Sidney R. Baer, Jr., whose family started the Stix Baer & Fuller department store chain in St. Louis.
