Constance Lieber Receives Award from Rockefeller University


(Great Neck, NY- ) — Constance Lieber, president of the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD), received the prestigious Brooke Astor award from Rockefeller University at its fourth annual Women&Science lecture and luncheon. Ms. Lieber, who has devoted the past 25 years to the cause of psychiatric research, was recognized for work that Òhas been instrumental in furthering scientific research in the service of humankind,Ó according to Rockefeller University.

Ms. Lieber is known throughout the psychiatric research community and by advocacy groups nationwide for her work as president of NARSAD. The award from Rockefeller University is her second in less than a month. She and her husband, Stephen Lieber, were recently honored by Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. They received the Award for Distinguished Service from the Health Sciences Advisory Council, recognition previously granted to Rosalynn Carter, Tipper Gore, Anna Wintour, Dr. Michael DeBakey, Congressman Charles Rangel, Avon CEO Andrea Jung and actor/director Rob Reiner.

NARSAD is the leading donor-supported organization funding psychiatric research worldwide. Since 1987, NARSAD has awarded more than $112 million in grants to over 1,300 scientists at 172 universities and research centers.
