J. John Mann, M.D.
Distinguished Investigator
Dr. J. John Mann is the Paul Janssen Professor of Translational Neuroscience in Psychiatry and Radiology at Columbia University, Director of Research at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Scientific Director of the Columbia University Kreitchman PET Center. His research focuses on the causes of depression and suicide by utilizing functional brain imaging, neurochemistry and molecular genetics. Dr. Mann is the Director of the NIMH Conte Center for the Neuroscience of Mental Disorders. Since Dr. Mann graduated from University of Melbourne in 1977, he has published over four hundred papers and edited ten books on the subjects of the biology and treatment of mood disorders, suicidal behavior and other psychiatric disorders. In private practice, Dr. Mann specializes in the treatment of mood disorders.
