Estibaliz Arce, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of University of California, San Diego, plans to examine the psychological and brain processes involved in resilience. She will use an emotional face processing task to examine affective biases that relate to resilience and will determine how individuals with low (LR) and high resilience (HR) process emotional stimuli differently. Her results in understanding the neural circuitry of resilience will have several important implications, including the development of biomarkers for (1) future targets of medication interventions to increase resilience (2) prediction of mental illness outcome, and (3) validation of cognitive-behavioral interventions to promote resilience. Program Area: ANXIETY DISORDERS\Anxiety Disorder |
