Juan Carlos Arevalo, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of New York University, plans to study the molecular mechanisms underlying BDNF learning and memory. Using a rodent-based model, he will focus on BDNF functions in memory, learning and depression in transgenic mice with reduced amounts of ARMS protein. The outcome of his study could result in significant advance of understanding of the molecular mechanisms of BDNF within normal and pathological brain conditions and, potentially, in the identification of new targets to treat neuropsychiatric disorders. Program Area: OTHER\Memory Disorders |
