Alberto Bacci, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of the European Brain Research Institute, will use a rodent-based model to study how sensory information is processed in a specific inhibitory circuit in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), which is believed to be among the pathophysiological mechanisms of schizophrenia. Specifically, Dr. Bacci will examine the role of how parvalbumin (PV) affects synaptic transmission between interneurons and principal cells. His studies will provide detailed information crucial for the understanding of the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
