Yuval Bloch, M.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of Shalvata Mental Health Center Tel Aviv University, will study transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and its role in treating adolescent depression. TMS is a noninvasive method of brain stimulation in which magnetic fields induce electric currents in the cerebral cortex, thereby depolarizing neurons. Adolescent depression is a severe life threatening disorder, and Dr. Bloch’s research may provide a promising technique for treating those suffering. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Unipolar |
