Edward S. Brodkin, M.D. (Young Investigator 2003) of University of Pennsylvania, is searching in different individuals for novel genome sequence variants in Golf on chromosome 18, which encodes an intracellular signaling protein apparently involved in dopamine signaling in the brain. When variants are found, association tests will be conducted in families affected by schizophrenia or bipolar disorder to determine whether these Golf variants contribute to susceptibility to these disorders. Program Area: MULTIPLE FOCUS AREAS\Schizophrenia/Bipolar |
