Esteban V. Cardemil, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Clark University, will study a sample of Caucasian, African American, and Hispanic 5th and 6th grade children over a two year period as they transition to middle school. By conducting a longitudinal study of children from three different racial/ethnic groups, this study will address the extent to which racial/ethnic differences exist in the developmental course of depression and depressive symptoms and the psychological correlates of depression and depressive symptoms. The study will serve to bridge the gap in knowledge which currently exists regarding the development and psychological correlates of depression in racial/ethnic minority children. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Depression (Unipolar)\Child/Adolescent |
