Anne Duffy, M.D. (Young Investigator 2000) of Dalhousie University, is working to describe the initial course of early onset bipolar disorder, identify risk and protective factors for this disorder, and study the response to mood stabilizers. Subjects will undergo clinical assessments, treatment with lithium and/or divalproex (Depakote), and the personality traits and dimensions of their parents will be investigated.
