Lin He, Ph.D. (Distinguished Investigator 2001) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, will investigate the hypothesis that prenatal malnutrition increases the risk of schizophrenia. It is based on a population exposed to famine in China from 1959-1961. Dr. Lin will assess birthweight in relation to schizophrenia in a large group of famine-exposed subjects in particular regions of China and examine interactions between the ApoE gene and malnutrition.
