Martin Lepage, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Douglas Hospital Research Centre, is studying memory impairments related to schizophrenia. Using function MRI (fMRI), he will examine associative recognition, and memory interference, memory processes believed to be deficient in schizophrenia and related to abnormal prefrontal cortical activity. Identifying neural structures/functions underlying memory impairments in schizophrenia will help in understanding the mechanisms of these deficits and may help to design therapeutic or preventive approaches in the future. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
