Ilise D. Lombardo, M.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of New York State Psychiatric Institute, will investigate the potential of the drug DAS-431 (a specific D1 agonist) for improving cognitive impairment in patients with schizophrenia. The D1 agonists have been shown to be worthy of examination for their potential ability to improve cognitive performance in patients with schizophrenia. Dr. Lombardo will seek to determine an optimal dose for a therapeutic challenge in patients with schizophrenia, and then if the dose improves working memory in patients with schizophrenia. Positive study results would encourage the development of D1 agonists aimed at improving cognition in patients with schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
