Sherie Lynn Novotny, M.D. (Young Investigator 2000) of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, is conducting a clinical trial of three medications in autism, fluoxetine (Prozac), divalproex sodium (Depakote), and olanzapine (Zyprexa). Patients will be randomized and will each receive one of the three medications. The relationship between severity of dysfunction in each of the three dimensions of autism, and the response to the three medications will be examined. This work may greatly improve our knowledge of the pharmacological treatment of autism. Program Area: PERVASIVE DEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS\Autism |
