Eric A. Storch, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of University of Florida, will initiate a study using the compound D-Cyclosporine to augment therapy for children with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Exposure and response prevention therapy has shown efficacy for OCD treatment, but not for all children treated. In the process of neurotransmission, through which nerve cells communicate, the NMDA glutamate receptor is involved in learning and memory. Evidence suggests that D-Cycloserine acts on the receptor to augment associative learning and extinction during exposure-based therapy. Program Area: ANXIETY DISORDERS\Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) |
