Ardesheer Talati, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of Columbia University, will lead a study of panic disorder and social anxiety disorder using functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) imaging of the brain. The aim is to incorporate anatomical and functional MRI study within ongoing genetic research. To initiate the study, comprehensive clinical assessments and DNA were collected from people with panic disorder or social anxiety and control subjects. While these analyses are aimed at identifying gene variations that contribute to anxiety states, imaging the brains of subjects will also enable Dr. Talata and colleagues to examine the underlying neurobiology. Program Area: ANXIETY DISORDERS\Panic Disorder |
