Susan Voglmaier, M.D., Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of the University of California, San Francisco, will study a family of vesicular glutamate transporters, VGLUTs. Glutamatergic signaling and VGLUT expression is altered in schizophrenia, thus an understanding of the regulation of glutamate storage and release by VGLUTs may yield insights into the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
