Sheila Wang, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2001) of National Institute on Aging/National Institute of Health (NIA/NIH), seeks to obtain important information on the responses of multiple hormone systems in adolescents exposed to trauma as compared to controls and adults with posttraumatic stress disorder. Posttraumatic symptoms in children and adolescents closely resembles that of adults, although symptoms after a severe trauma may vary according to several factors. This work may further elucidate the role of hormones, including cortisol and thyroid hormone, to posttraumatic stress disorder. Program Area: ANXIETY DISORDERS\Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) |
